Bridge of Hope-Helping with Personal Needs
A Place to Hang Out
Sometimes it is difficult to simply find a quiet place where you can get away from noise and conflicts. The hang out room is a large warm space with with tables and soft cushions, hot coffee, family television shows, and often a snack or cold drink. We have a telephone for your use to make appointments, and laptops can be checked out for job searches and finding other resources.
Hang Out Room is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m., we have a free breakfast and time together to make personal connections. Each breakfast, we consider a question of the day, such as "What do you want to know about nutrition?" or "What do you want people to know about you?" Other meals are often served here during the week by DEstiny Family Church, and both organizations hope to add to our food pantry in the future.
The clothing room offers an opportunity to find the clothes you need for the day, and we also have some clothes suitable for job interviews and special events. We ask everyone to only take clothes for themselves, so if you have friends or family members that need immediate clothing, invite them to come in on their own. Everyone helps to sort the clothing room and keep it orderly.
Clothing Room is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
We do have private showers and laundry facilities that you may use at no charge, and we a limited selection of soaps and shampoos available. Facilities are shared, so please be thoughtful of others.
Please feel free to talk with our staff about special needs you have, such as needing to see a nurse, a social worker, an educator or a counselor. We have some professionals that come to our facility to assist, and we have a network of resources that might be able to meet your needs.
One of our unique programs is a bicycle repair shop. Those who learn to repair and maintain bicycles may earn one for their personal transportation.
Gardening and Maintenance
Bridge of Hope grows a lot of the fresh vegetables we enjoy at our meals, and we also grow additional food for our friends and neighbors. Participants learn the entire garden process, from planting to harvest. We also have a tool, loaner library of both garden and household construction tools, and we will be happy to help you learn to use and maintain these tools.
